The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has shared updates on several system-related error clues (ECs) currently affecting EFILE and NETFILE submissions. Below is a structured summary of each issue, including temporary workarounds and anticipated resolution dates:

1. EC 90228 – Allowable Business Investment Loss Error

Issue:
This error is being triggered incorrectly in two situations:

  • Scenario 1: Line 21700 (Allowable Business Investment Loss) and line 21698 have entries, but line 21699 is blank.
  • Scenario 2: Lines 21700 and 21699 have entries, but line 21698 is blank.

Temporary Workaround:

  • For Scenario 1, enter “1” at line 21699.
  • For Scenario 2, enter “1” at line 21698.

Fix Timeline:
A system fix is scheduled for April 14, 2025.

2. EC 2508 – T2017 Form Error

Issue:
The error is setting incorrectly even when the T2017 form is completed correctly.

Fix Timeline:
No timeframe is currently available for the fix.

3. EC 95033 – RC381 Form & Low Employment Income Error

Issue:
This error is incorrectly triggered when the taxpayer must complete form RC381 and has employment income below $3,500.

Resolved Subset:
If the taxpayer’s employment province matches their province of residence (Schedule 8 completed), the error was resolved as of March 27, 2025.

Fix Timeline (Other Scenarios):
No implementation date available at this time.

4. EC 99915 – Error with Only Line 12905 Income

Issue:
When line 12905 is the only income reported, the system incorrectly expects a supporting entry of line 9915 = 1, triggering an error.

Fix Timeline:
A fix is being developed, but no implementation date is currently set.

5. EC 95365 – Rounding Error on Line 68140

Issue:
Due to rounding discrepancies, the sum of lines 17599 and 17600 may exceed line 68140, incorrectly triggering this error.

System Update:
Changes were deployed on April 7, 2025 to reduce instances of this error.

Additional Note:
The current error message does not reference “period 1 line 17599”. CRA is reviewing whether to update the wording of the error clue.

6. EC 2515 – Similar Rounding Error as EC 95365

Issue:
Similar to EC 95365, this error is due to rounding issues where the sum of lines 17599 and 17600 exceeds line 68140.

System Update:
System adjustments were made on April 7, 2025 to mitigate the issue.

Additional Note:
Like EC 95365, the current error message lacks reference to “period 1 line 17599.” CRA is determining if the error description will be updated accordingly.
